Wise Stuff From Seuss

Blimey, there's so much to teach our kids. Where do we start? And just as they've learned one lesson there's another, not just waiting in the wings, but running full pelt at them.  It's a good job that help is at hand from so many other people as the task is too big for one individual to do on their own.

Can I recommend Dr Seuss as one of their teachers?  His iconic books are such favourites of mine and have been with me for nigh on a lifetime.  They're brilliantly funny, well illustrated and tell a impeccable yarn.  But they also contain so much wisdom and I've just come across an article from Lifehack about the lessons to be learnt from this great children's author . Here are just a few of my own favourite quotes:
  • Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not.  (The Lorax)
  •  I’m quite happy to say. That the Sneetches got really quite smart on that day. The day they decided that Sneetches are Sneetches. And no kind of Sneetch is the best on the beaches. That day, all the Sneetches forgot about stars and whether they had one, or not, upon thars. (The Sneetches)
  • You're off to Great Places! Today is your day!  Your mountain is waiting. So...get on your way! (Oh, The Places You'll Go)
  • Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more! (How The Grinch Stole Christmas)
  • A person's a person, no matter how small! (Horton Hears a Who)
  • I'm afraid that sometimes you'll play lonely games too. Games you can't win 'cause you'll play against you. (Oh, The Places You'll Go)
