A Weepie

In the course of working on getting my fledging business up and running over the weekend I came across this clever little film by Ryan McCarvill .  It's only short so you can all watch it in your coffee break.  But I'll warn you.  You'll need tissues.

  1. It illustrates very well that we shouldn't insist on dragging a dementia sufferer into the cold hard present. He was happy in his memories. And patience is needed; the son smiled at the end when his dad began the story all over again. Perhaps he was thinking, as I did when my mum repeated a story time and time again, that one day, I would give anything to have her speak to me again.

  2. I once read that we should allow older folk share their memories as it is their way of reliving their past, I am I having to learn to be less impatient and sit and listen when my folks chat on. I wish I'd had more patience with both my Gran and my husband's Gran when they were still alive. My sons and husband are far better at it than me.

    1. I think we all do it even when we're younger to preserve and create our sense of self. xx
