What's That Elephant Doing In My Bathroom?

A theme in my buying behaviour is emerging: Weight. As well as treating myself to a natty set of kitchen scales the other day I replaced my no longer functioning bathroom scales too. I'd been kidding myself for a long time that these were an unnecessary household item but the fact that some of my clothes are tighty-tight persuaded me otherwise.

Gingerly I stepped on them for the first time. Now I knew that enthusiastic crisp eating and a period of inactivity after bouts of physical setbacks in last six months had taken their toll but Holy Crap!!!! I weighed how much! I'm so embarrassed that I'm not going to tell you guys. But obviously something needs to be done.

So last Sunday I recorded my first weigh in and this week I reviewed my progress. It was an active week with lots of walking, cycling and Week 4 of the Couch to 5K running plan. But to balance that out there was a rather enjoyable boozy night out with the girlies where much prosecco and fried food was consumed. Had I done enough to counter this? Yes! Three pounds lost in the first week.

I've set a target weight and a date to reach it. Again it's a hefty amount so I'm loathe to share. But with exercise, sensible eating and not to many blowouts I'm sure I'll reach it. Unless I get to a point where I'm happy with how things are on the slimming journey. I don't want to overdo it now do I?

PS: Oh, the scales in the picture do not depict my actual weight. It's really not as bad as that! xx

  1. The prosecco and fried food diet! 3lbs in your first week is fab! With a bit of effort and not much deprivation - which I THINK IS THE KEY!! Oops! Caps lock sorry - I wasn't getting all shouty x

    1. Shouty is okay. It proves a point. Maybe I could make some money with the Prosecco and Fry Up Diet. It's a thought. xx

  2. I think this winter has been unkind to all of us, too cold/wet/snowy to walk, I have been the same weight for years but this winter put on 8 lbs. so that has to go. Good luck.

  5. I think that you will do it! You come across as a person with a strong will and loads of common sense. Personally, I wish I could just wave a wand and be a stone lighter! JanF
