My bedroom at night these days resembles a branch of Currys. That's because I confiscate all of Louis' electronic equipment before bedtime. It's a right royal palaver I can tell you. Yesterday he said that he didn't know where his Kindle was. I found it plugged in under his bed. Then there was the other night when he assured me that the laptop didn't work up in his attic room because the Wi-Fi signal wasn't strong enough. How did I ever buy that one? I came up in the morning to wake him up and found it on top of the duvet with the bedside light still on. Grrrr! I had the mother of hissy fits I can tell you.
I've just found out that 1 in 5 children regularly wake through the night to check and send messages on social media. That doesn't surprise me at all. Just thought that this was worth sharing to make other parents aware and to inspire solidarity with others who find themselves in the same boat. Wrestling electronic devices away from a teenager is hardly the ideal calm end to a day that I yearn for but I think it's entirely appropriate.
