My World Cup Offering

This made me laugh.  By posting this it will look like I detest the beautiful game but that's not the case.  I've had my moments.  Eight years ago I popped our country's flag in the office window only to get caught up in a debate as to whether it was politically  correct to do so!   And  I know England won 6-1 against Panama on Sunday.  You see I'm so on the ball.   If  our team get through to the later stages of the game I might even cheer them on - in a suitably rowdy pub of course.

The most vivid footballing recollection that I have is lying on the carpet watching a big screen in the aptly named  Pit in Cornwall House at Exeter University in 1986.  It later became known by a much more lame title of the Lemon Grove.  There, in a state of alcoholic fuzziness, I somehow vividly recall  Maradona's 'Hand of God' moment.

  1. Great clip! I'm not into football at all. The highlight for me this year is the embroidery machine on the BBC trailer! I am old enough to remember world Cup final 1966. Friends with a large TV invited is round to watch it. One of them taught my 4year old brother to whistle because he was bored.

  3. Not a footballing house so we don’t know who’s in our out. Too hot for me again today and I had my haircut which added to the experience! Much shorter now for this hot weather.
