Passport Number 4

I applied to renew Louis' passport yesterday.  I've told him that it's one of the most precious things that he owns.   As I've said in the title it's his fourth as the ones for kids have to be replaced every five years.  Here's the photo that he had taken in the booth at Sainsbury's yesterday.    He's so grown up now and towers above me.  He takes pleasure in tucking me under his arm.    I'd have liked him to have a haircut but he refused.   I've said that some countries won't let him in because he looks like an urchin.

A strong spirit of wanderlust courses through my veins. The remnants of that Romany ancestry maybe?  Anyway I was determined to instill the same desire to travel in my son.  As such I applied for his first passport when he was just six weeks old.    He made his first trip abroad to the Alps at five months.

I dug it out that first passport yesterday and looked at his ID photo.  It always gives me a giggle.  Lou was mesmerised by the lights in the top of the booth in Boots in Exeter.  He seems to have changed rather a lot in fifteen years!

    1. He'd be horrified to hear that but I agree we have similar features. I'd love the long eyelashes. xx

  5. Well, I did enjoy this post; perhaps I like looking back on things? I was advised, about twenty years ago, to have lots of passport type photos done to be used in future, when I have aged considerably. I wish I had taken notice of that advice!

    1. I've got all my old passports from the 80s onwards. They are a great chronological record.
