Duo of Denver

I've spoken before about the times with Louis that I become crabby because of his musical choices in the car.  He seems to hog the sound system these days.  Don't teenagers become more boshie as a biological ploy so that you long for them to leave the nest?  Or the little blue Skoda at least.   'Turn that bloody row off!'  I grumble as, say, he tries to sneak in a bit of rap at 7:45 in the morning.  To my absolute amazement he put this on as an alternative the other day and we sang along to it. Hope is not lost!

I'd almost forgotten about this guy which is surprising given that I have a bit of a penchant for musicians that wield an acoustic guitar.  'Take Me Home, Country Roads' carries me back to walking in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I've yet to hike the West Virginian stretch of the Appalachian Trail but it's on my bucket list.  I love the enthusiastic backing singer with the big sleeves in this clip giving it some!

But here's my favourite John Denver song, a more ponderous track which showcases his amazing voice beautifully.  I thought this was thoroughly worth sharing as well.

  1. I always liked John Denver with his country songs, but he went down in my estimation when I saw a film of his life story. It turns out that he wasn't such a home-body as his songs portray, but spent most of his time travelling the world and relishing it, doing concerts with the occasional visit home. That is why his wife divorced him. I still enjoy listening to his songs though.

    1. From what I've read it sounds like his life was a struggle. It must be hard to live up to such a clean and wholesome image if you're famous. xx
